Jonathan Samuels was born in 1972 and is a British broadcaster and journalist. Details about his parents and exact date and place of birth are not publicly available, as he has consistently kept his personal background private. He grew up in the Chester area of Cheshire, England.
After studying at Loughborough University, Jonathan began his career as a researcher on the Emmy award-winning Channel 4 children’s programme Wise Up, before studying journalism and joining a BBC regional training scheme. At BBC Radio Cornwall he first learned about the demands of early morning broadcasts, reading news bulletins before slowly progressing up the country via Radio Devon and BBC Spotlight in Plymouth, where he began reporting and presenting on television.
Jonathan then joined BBC Look East before eventually getting to London as a reporter for Sky News and then Chief Correspondent for Channel 5 News. In November 2000, Jonathan joined Sky News, where he continues to serve as a presenter and anchor. Over the past 25 years, he has become one of the most recognisable and trusted faces of the channel.
He co-anchored Sky News Sunrise between 2016 and 2018, and now anchors The News Hour on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, as well as News at Ten during weekend periods. Jonathan Samuels’ career extends beyond the Sky News studio — he is also known as an accomplished event host and moderator, chairing conferences, summits, and award ceremonies. In addition to his news career, Jonathan presents the weekend breakfast show on Virgin Radio Chilled.
He lives in West London with his wife and children and remains an active presence across Sky News’s rolling schedule.
