Jennie Bond was born on 19 August 1950 in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England. Her father worked in the printing industry, and she was raised in a supportive family environment that encouraged education and communication.
She studied French and European literature at the University of Warwick before beginning her journalism career in radio. She joined the BBC in the 1970s, initially working as a radio reporter and presenter.
Bond rose to prominence as the BBC’s royal correspondent from 1989 to 2003, covering major events involving the British royal family, including royal weddings, tours, and the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.
After stepping down from royal reporting, she transitioned into television presenting, appearing on shows such as Cash in the Attic and later joining Rip Off Britain on BBC One.
She lives in the UK with her husband, James and remains active in broadcasting, writing, and public speaking.
