Jenna Bush Hager is an American television host, journalist, and author best known for her role on NBC’s Today and being the daughter of former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush. She grew up in Texas and later in Washington, D.C., during her grandfather George H. W. Bush’s presidency. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a degree in English in 2004.
After college, she worked as a teacher’s aide at a public charter school in Washington, D.C., and later taught at a school in Baltimore. She later ventured into writing, authoring several books, including Ana’s Story: A Journey of Hope, which was inspired by her experience working with UNICEF in Latin America.
Hager joined NBC in 2009 as a correspondent and contributor for the Today Show. Over time, she became a fill-in and substitute anchor for the 7 a.m. – 9 a.m. segment and the fourth hour. In 2019, she was promoted to permanent co-host of the fourth hour, initially hosting the segment with Hoda Kotb, before being joined by Sheinelle Jones following Kotb’s departure from the show in 2025.
In her personal life, Bush Hager is married to Henry Chase Hager, a private equity executive and former political aide. The couple resides in New York with their three children: Mila, Poppy, and Hal. The couple has three children. She frequently shares stories about her family life on air and is known for her openness and relatability.
