Jason Calvin Garrett was born in Abington, Pennsylvania, and raised in New Jersey and Ohio in a football-oriented family. He attended Princeton University, where he played quarterback for the Princeton Tigers and graduated with a degree in history. Garrett entered the NFL in 1989 and spent more than a decade as a quarterback, primarily serving as a backup with teams including the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.

After retiring as a player, Garrett transitioned into coaching. He joined the Dallas Cowboys coaching staff in 2007 and became the team’s head coach in 2010, leading the franchise through the 2019 season. During his tenure, he guided the Cowboys to multiple playoff appearances and was named NFL Coach of the Year in 2016.

Following his coaching career, Garrett moved into broadcasting. In 2022, he joined NBC Sports as an analyst on Football Night in America, providing commentary and analysis for the network’s Sunday Night Football coverage. He is known for his detailed football insights, drawn from his extensive experience in the NFL as both a player and a coach.
