Hannah Lemon was born in Japan to a Japanese mother and a British father. Growing up in Japan, she always struggled to fit in as a mixed-race child, but her parents raised her in a way that she could find things to do on her own and be satisfied. At the age of 15, she moved to New Zealand to study art and photography.

After living in New Zealand for six years, she found it difficult to stay on as an international student and find work in a small industry, so she decided to move to the UK, wanting to be in an industry where there were more opportunities. Having moved to the UK in 2012, she worked as a professional photographer. She holds a B.A. in Film and Media and an M.A. in Freelance Photography, and worked across a wide range of roles in the photography industry from 2014 — from producer to retoucher alongside travel and events photography.

When the pandemic hit in 2020 and her photography jobs vanished, she revisited her childhood passion for arts and crafts, starting by creating a miniature dream home bathroom to pass the time. She began sharing her work on Instagram for friends and family, and the page slowly grew. By the end of 2021, her social media was gaining significant traction, and in early 2022 she was approached for commission work for an advertising campaign, from which point she concentrated on making miniatures full-time.

She appeared as a contestant on Best in Miniature Season 2 (Netflix Canada/CBC) and is a featured expert on The Marvellous Miniature Workshop on BBC One/iPlayer. She is currently based in Warwick, United Kingdom.
