Guillaume Pons

Profile Overview

Guillaume Pons has been actively involved in ceramic and glass conservation since the year 2000. He obtained two degrees from Paris 1 La Sorbonne — a BA Honours (Licence) in History of Art and Archaeology, followed by a four-year Master’s Degree with distinction in Conservation and Restoration.

As a postgraduate student, he worked on objects from the Musée d’Art et Archéologie de la Ville de Saint-Denis and undertook internships at the Musée National de la Céramique (Sèvres) and the private practice Atelier Dupin in Paris.

Guillaume moved to London in his final year of studies to complete further internships at the Victoria and Albert Museum and Plowden & Smith — the UK’s largest fine art conservation company. He was immediately offered a permanent position as a ceramics and glass restorer, working there for three years before establishing his own practice.

GP Conservation, which Guillaume founded and continues to operate, undertakes projects in the conservation and restoration of ceramics and glass for a respected client base of well-known antique dealers and collectors in London. Clients include Christie’s London, Sotheby’s London, Phillips London, and specialist dealers including Amir Mohtashemi and Timothy Langston.

Guillaume appeared as one of the ceramic restoration experts in the first series of BBC The Repair Shop in 2017.
