Giada Pamela De Laurentiis was born on August 22, 1970, in Rome, Italy, as the eldest child of actress Veronica De Laurentiis and actor-producer Alex De Benedetti. Her maternal grandfather was the legendary Italian film producer Dino De Laurentiis. When she was seven, her family relocated to Los Angeles, where she grew up immersed in both Italian food culture and the entertainment industry. She later earned a degree in Anthropology, then trained in classical French cuisine at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris.
After graduating, De Laurentiis worked in prestigious Los Angeles kitchens, including Wolfgang Puck’s Spago. She founded her own catering company, GDL Foods, before a feature in Food & Wine magazine caught the attention of a Food Network executive. Her debut show, Everyday Italian, launched in 2003 and quickly made her a household name.
Over the next two decades, De Laurentiis hosted multiple additional Food Network shows, becoming one of the most recognizable faces in American food media. In 2023, she departed Food Network after 20 years and signed a multi-year deal with Amazon Studios. She continues to operate two Las Vegas restaurants and has published more than ten cookbooks, several of which hit the New York Times bestseller list.
