Evan Davis was born on 8 April 1962 in Malvern, Worcestershire, England to South African parents, Quintin Visser Davis, an engineer, and Hazel Noreen Davis.
He was educated at Dorking County Grammar School (later The Ashcombe School) before studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at St John’s College, Oxford. He later completed a Master of Public Administration at Harvard University.
Davis began his career as an economist at the Institute for Fiscal Studies and London Business School before joining the BBC in 1993 as an economics correspondent. He became BBC Economics Editor in 2001, a key role covering national and global financial issues.
He has hosted Dragons’ Den on BBC Two (later BBC One) since 2005, guiding entrepreneurs through pitches to investors. He has also presented Today, Newsnight, The Bottom Line, and PM on BBC Radio 4.
Davis lives in London with his partner and continues to work as a broadcaster, author, and public speaker, maintaining a strong presence in UK media.
