Drew Allison Carey was born on May 23, 1958, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Lewis and Beulah Carey. The youngest of three brothers, he lost his father at age eight. He attended Kent State University, where he later dropped out and joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. After serving for six years, he built a stand-up comedy career, famously becoming one of the last comics called to the couch by Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show in 1991.

He rose to fame with The Drew Carey Show, which premiered on ABC in 1995 and ran for nine seasons. He also hosted Whose Line Is It Anyway? from 1998 to 2006. Since 2007, he has hosted The Price Is Right on CBS, succeeding the legendary Bob Barker. He also hosted Power of 10 on CBS and Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza on GSN.

Beyond television, Carey has also worked as a producer, author, and sports enthusiast, including involvement with the ownership group of Major League Soccer’s Seattle Sounders FC. He is a Buddhist and an active philanthropist involved in several charitable causes, including supporting public libraries.
