Dominic Wood was born on 3 January 1978 in Exeter, Devon, England. He developed an early interest in performance, joining the National Youth Music Theatre, which led to his television debut in 1996 on CBBC’s Friday Zone.
He became a CBBC presenter in 1998, where he partnered with Richard McCourt. Together they formed the iconic duo “Dick and Dom,” gaining national recognition through Dick & Dom in da Bungalow (2002–2006), broadcast on CBBC and BBC One.
Wood later co-presented Absolute Genius with Dick and Dom (2013–2016) on CBBC, a science-based show designed for children. The program earned them a BAFTA Children’s Presenter award in 2014.
In addition to television, he has worked in radio (BBC Radio 1, Virgin Radio UK), authored children’s magic books, and built a following as a DIY content creator on social media.
He lives with his wife Sandi Lee Hughes and their two children, maintaining a family-focused personal life alongside his entertainment career.
