Daphne Oz was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. In high school, she wrote a research paper on teenage eating habits and persuaded her school cafeteria to offer healthier options — an early sign of her career path. At Princeton University, she studied Near Eastern Studies and channeled her focus on health into The Dorm Room Diet, a book published in 2006 while she was still a student.
After Princeton, Oz studied culinary arts and then pursued a career in television, beginning with regular appearances on The Dr. Oz Show. In 2011, she joined ABC’s The Chew, co-hosting alongside Mario Batali, Michael Symon, Clinton Kelly, and Carla Hall. Currently, she co-hosts MasterChef Junior on Fox alongside Gordon Ramsay, a role she took on in 2022.
In addition to her TV hosting roles, Daphne Oz has also appeared as a guest on several shows, including Today, Dish It Out, Good Morning America, and Master Chef: USA (as a guest judge). Beyond TV, she has authored four cookbooks, most recently Eat Your Heart Out (2022).
