Courtney Alexandra Sweetman-Kirk was born on 16 November 1990 in Leicester, England. She began her football journey in her hometown, signing for Leicester City’s youth team before joining the senior side in 2008 at age 17, scoring 33 goals in 54 appearances over three seasons.

She went on to play for several major clubs across the FA Women’s Premier League, WSL, and Championship They include Coventry City (2011–2013), Lincoln/Notts County (2013), Doncaster Rovers Belles (2014–2017) — where she was FA WSL 2 top scorer with 20 goals in the 2015 season and won the league’s Players’ Player of the Year award — Everton (2017–2018), Liverpool (2018–2020), and finally Sheffield United (2020–2023). She also represented England at U-23 level and played for Great Britain at the 2013 World University Games.

Since retiring from playing, Courtney has built a broadcasting career as a commentator, reporter, and pundit, working across Sky Sports Women’s Super League, talkSPORT, Amazon Prime, ITV, STV, DAZN, and YouTube, covering competitions from the WSL and Premier League to the Champions League and Euros. She has appeared regularly on Sky’s Soccer Saturday coverage since 2021 and worked EFL and Premier League coverage for Amazon Prime and Sky.

Beyond broadcasting, she is a vocal advocate for diversity and equality in football, an ambassador for Utilita’s “Football Rebooted” campaign, and was named to the 2025 Football Black List for her influence in the game.
