Charles “Chuck” Todd is a distinguished American journalist and political analyst. Born on April 8, 1972, in Miami, Florida, United States, he attended Miami Killian Senior High Schoolbefore enrolling at George Washington University. He studied political science with a minor in music, but did not complete his degree.
Todd began his career working for National Journal’s political newsletter The Hotline, eventually becoming its editor-in-chief. This early work helped establish his reputation as a specialist in political data analysis and election coverage. He then joined NBC News in 2007 as political director and later served as chief White House correspondent.
He quickly became a regular contributor across NBC and MSNBC’s political coverage. In 2014, he succeeded David Gregory as moderator of NBC’s Meet the Press, one of the longest-running television programs in the United States. He hosted the program until September 2023, when he stepped down and was replaced by Kristen Welker.
Following his departure from the show, Todd continued as NBC News’ chief political analyst before leaving the network entirely in January 2025 to pursue independent projects, including expanding his political podcast The Chuck ToddCast. He is married to communications professional Kristian Denny Todd, and the couple has two children.
