Cat Cora

Profile Overview

Cat Cora was born on April 3, 1967, in Jackson, Mississippi, and raised in the city’s close-knit Greek community. Her adoptive family’s deep love of food — rooted in both Greek and Southern traditions — shaped her culinary identity from an early age. She later earned a BS in Exercise Physiology and Biology from the University of Southern Mississippi, then graduated from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, in 1995.

After culinary school, she honed her skills at two three-Michelin-star restaurants in France before returning to the United States. She made her television debut in 1999, co-hosting Food Network’s Melting Pot alongside chef Rocco DiSpirito. From there, she appeared on a string of Food Network and Fine Living Channel programs, steadily building her on-screen profile.

Her big breakthrough came in 2005, when she made television history as the first female Iron Chef on Iron Chef America — a role she held for ten seasons. Subsequently, she co-hosted Bravo’s Around the World in 80 Plates in 2012, Fox’s My Kitchen Rules in 2017, and ABC’s Family Food Fight in 2019.
