Carla Metts Gebhart graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and a minor in Journalism. During college, she served as a four-year captain of the university’s co-ed cheerleading squad. She began her broadcasting career as a production assistant at KELO-TV before joining Midco Sports Network. There, she worked as a reporter, producer, studio host, and sideline reporter, covering college football and basketball.

Gebhart joined Queen City News (WJZY) in Charlotte in 2020, initially serving as a sports anchor. She helped launch Charlotte Sports Live, which became one of the station’s signature programs. In 2023, she was promoted to Sports Director and led coverage of the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets, NASCAR, and other regional teams. She also hosted the Emmy Award-winning motorsports program Around the Track.

In January 2025, Gebhart moved to The CW as the host of NASCAR Countdown Live. She fronts the network’s pre-race coverage for the NASCAR Xfinity Series while continuing to report from major race weekends throughout the season. Outside of broadcasting, she is a passionate advocate for women in sports media and mentors aspiring sports journalists.
