Brandon McMillan was born on April 29, 1977, in Trenton, New Jersey, into a family of exotic animal trainers for the entertainment industry. Raised alongside wild animals from a young age, McMillan moved to Los Angeles at 18 to join his uncle’s animal training company. He spent fifteen years training animals for major motion pictures, including the tiger in the 2009 hit The Hangover.
Despite his success in Hollywood, McMillan shifted his focus to rescuing and rehabilitating “untrainable” shelter dogs, leading to the creation of the hit series Lucky Dog. Currently, he is the host of the spin-off shows Lucky Dog: Reunions, which revisits adopted dogs from his original run, and Lucky Dog: Down Under, which follows Australian shelter dogs.
Beyond the Lucky Dog franchise, he is a recurring face on the Discovery Channel’s Shark Week, where he applies his animal behavior expertise to marine life. He is also the co-founder of the Argus Service Dog Foundation, which provides trained service animals to disabled veterans.
