Profile Overview

Blake Shelton was born and raised in Ada, Oklahoma. He discovered his love of music early, learning guitar from his uncle at 12 and writing his first song at 15. At just 17, he moved to Nashville to chase his musical dreams. In 2001, his debut single “Austin” spent five weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot Country chart, launching one of country music’s most decorated careers.

Over the following two decades, Shelton became one of Nashville’s biggest stars, accumulating 31 number one singles and earning multiple Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Awards. In 2011, he joined NBC’s The Voice as an original coach, where he guided nine winning teams over 23 seasons. He left the show in 2023 to focus on his family and his music career. 

In 2025, Shelton co-created and executive-produced The Road, a music competition series on CBS. The show follows 12 emerging musicians competing as opening acts for Keith Urban at live venues across America, with Shelton appearing throughout as a judge and mentor. He also released his 13th studio album, For Recreational Use Only, in May 2025.
