Anna Campbell-Jones was born and raised in London to a successful architect father and a very creative mother, who encouraged her to embrace her artistic side and follow her love for painting and creating things. Her mother was a nurse turned artist and designer. These influences gave her both the discipline and imagination that later shaped her career in the creative industries.
Anna studied Interior Design at the Glasgow School of Art from 1988–1991. She then worked at leading London practices — Tilney Shane, Imagination, and Morey Smith — for clients including IBM, Warner Music, River Island, and Heal’s. She returned to Glasgow around 2000, when her then-husband’s company had an office there.
She had been lecturing at GSA, her alma mater, a couple of days a week since 2000, as well as running her interior design practice. The fateful phone call came from a producer looking for judges for a new TV show called Scotland’s Home of the Year. Since 2016, she has been director of Habitus Design Ltd, and Anna has been designing homes in Scotland and abroad since 2000.
In October 2023, Anna launched Anna Campbell-Jones Ltd, a responsible online retail brand inspired by Dazzle Camouflage, a design technique from World War I reinterpreted into striking modern homewares, with every product made in Scotland. She lives in a large main-door tenement flat in Glasgow’s West End. She also owns a bothy on the west coast, a retreat for the extended family for holidays and impromptu getaways, which she has been visiting since she was a child.
