Abby Cook

Profile Overview

Abby Cook was born in Falkirk, Scotland in 2002, and was born with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, which causes her joints to easily dislocate and creates a lot of pain. Her parents’ names are not publicly confirmed. She was active in competitive swimming and cross country running until age 12, when her condition made it impossible to continue. She said she stayed at home for six months and missed two years of school due to her diagnosis, before later beginning wheelchair racing.

Abby attended Grangemouth High School, leaving with straight A’s, before studying Applied Biological Science at Forth Valley College. She then worked with Forth Valley Disability Sport, supporting disabled and non-disabled young people to enjoy being active together, and as a mental health project administrator for Scottish Disability Sport. She also uploaded videos to TikTok under the handle “hotwheels007”.

On 6 March 2023, Cook was announced as the 42nd presenter of Blue Peter, co-hosting alongside Mwaksy, Joel and Henry the dog, with her debut airing on 10 March on CBBC and BBC iPlayer. Her first challenge was abseiling down Millers Dale Viaduct in the Peak District national park.

In April 2024, Cook was named in The Sunday Times‘ inaugural Young Power List of 25 high achievers aged under 30 in the United Kingdom and Ireland. On 21 March 2025, on the set of Blue Peter, Cook set the Guinness World Record for most manual wheelchair spins in 30 seconds by a woman, with 31. On 5 March 2026, World Book Day, Cook hosted a reading lesson for 6,715 children at Portsmouth F.C.’s Fratton Park stadium.
