S4C (Sianel Pedwar Cymru – Channel Four Wales) is a Welsh-language public service television channel headquartered in Wales. The channel commissions original productions from independent producers across Wales and showcases the diversity of Welsh life, language, and culture to audiences across the UK and online.

The channel’s top shows include Pobol y Cwm, the nation’s longest-running Welsh-language soap opera. It is set in the fictional village of Cwmderi, following the lives and relationships of its residents in storylines that resonate strongly with Welsh audiences. Another flagship programme is Rownd a Rownd, a beloved Welsh-language soap popular with both young and broad audiences that has been broadcast for decades.

Y Llais is a contemporary singing competition based on The Voice format, showcasing Welsh musical talent with public auditions and mentoring from acclaimed artists. The channel also presents specialist content such as Sgorio Cymru, which offers comprehensive Welsh football highlights and commentary to sports fans across the country.

S4C’s on-screen personalities include James Williams hosts the quiz show Y Deis, bringing energy and wit to the challenging format and Jonathan Davies, a former Wales rugby star, who hosts Jonathan, a rugby-themed chat show that combines sport, conversation and celebrity guests.
