E! is a cable television network dedicated to celebrity culture, entertainment news, and reality-based programming. It launched in 1987 as Movietime, a low-budget service focused on movie trailers and entertainment clips, before rebranding to its current name in 1990 to broaden its celebrity coverage. 

For decades, E! operated as a subsidiary of NBCUniversal under the Comcast umbrella, becoming a global powerhouse through the unprecedented success of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. In 2026, the network spun off from NBCUniversal and became part of Versant Media Group, an independent company formed to manage a portfolio of premier cable and digital entertainment brands.
