Quick facts about the channel
Cooking Channel launched on May 31, 2010, as a spin-off of Food Network, created to fill a gap that had grown as Food Network shifted increasingly toward reality and competition formats. The channel was designed to focus on instructional cooking programs, emphasizing a range of cooking techniques and recipes for cooks of all levels, from beginners to experienced chefs.
The network airs both new original series and archived programming from Food Network. Its programming spans chef-led instructional shows, culinary travel series, and food exploration programs. Over the years, the channel has evolved to include competitive cooking programs, food and travel documentaries, and reality TV series.
Among its notable shows are Brunch @ Bobby’s, which features celebrity chef Bobby Flay preparing brunch menus inspired by food cultures from around the world. Man Fire Food, hosted by Roger Mooking, follows the chef on a journey across the United States, visiting pitmasters, chefs, and home cooks who use fire — from open flames to custom-built smokers — to create complex, flavorful dishes.
Others are Carnival Eats, hosted by Noah Cappe, which takes viewers on a food-frenzied tour of carnival and fair food from around the world. Dinner at Tiffani’s, hosted by actress Tiffani Thiessen, features celebrity guests joining her for good company and great food. There’s also Emeril’s Fresh Food Fast, hosted by Emeril Lagasse, which was among the channel’s original launch programming.
In addition to the above shows and hosts, Cooking Channel has also been home to several other recognizable culinary personalities, including Casey Webb, Ali Khan, Debi Mazar, Gabriele Corcos, Rachael Ray, and Katie Lee Biegel.
